CWC 2019: IND v NZ Warmup – Taylor and Williamson fifties take Kiwis to comfortable 6-wicket win over India

India managed to pick four wickets | GettyIndian team played their first warm-up game of the ICC World Cup 2019 against New Zealand at the Oval on May 25. Both the teams were allowed to use their full squads in the match but only 11 players could bat or bowl during the 50 overs.

Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to challenge his team by opting to bat first under favorable conditions for the bowlers. New Zealand took full advantage of conditions as Trent Boult wreaked havoc as he removed Rohit (2), Dhawan (2) and Rahul (6) leaving India 24/3. Virat Kohli was looking good for his 18, but Colin de Grandhomme removed him with a beauty. Hardik Pandya made 30 and with Dhoni (17) tried to bring stability to the innings.

Ravindra Jadeja made 54 in 50 balls to take India towards a respectable total of 179 in just 39.2 overs. Trent Boult picked 4/33 and Neesham picked 3/26 for Kiwis.

Jasprit Bumrah removed Colin Munro for 4 early on, while Pandya had Guptill caught by Rahul for 22, leaving Kiwis 37/2. Then Kane Williamson (67) and Ross Taylor (71) added 114 runs to stabilize the innings and took New Zealand towards victory.  For India, Jasprit Bumrah, Jadeja, Chahal and Pandya took a wicket each.

New Zealand registered an easy win by six wickets and India was left with some questions despite it being a practice game.
