CWC 2019: Brett Lee picks three pacers to watch out for in the upcoming World Cup

There are some amazing players to watch out for in the 12th edition of ODI World Cup.

Brett Lee expects Starc, Bumrah and Cummins to do wonders at the World Cup

With the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 kick-starting next week, cricket pundits are making some bold predictions like it always do before a marquee tournament. There are some amazing players to watch out for in the 12th edition of ODI World Cup, and former Australia speedster Brett Lee recently picked three pacers who would weave their magic in the quadrennial event.

In no particular order, Lee is expecting Mitchell Starc, Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins to make their mark in the World Cup, starting May 30 in England and Wales.

"You'd have to stick with Mitchell Starc," Lee told cricket.com.au. "He's still got that quality. When that pace is up he's hard to go past."

Starc is nearing peak fitness after recovering from a pectoral injury he sustained in February's Canberra Test match against Sri Lanka. The Aussie left-armer was the Player-of-the-Tournament in the 2015 World Cup for his 22 wickets.

Commenting on India paceman Bumrah, Lee said: "What a wonderful bowler. He's got a good record, wonderful yorker, good pace."

Currently the No. 1 rank bowler in ICC ODI rankings, Bumrah has claimed 85 wickets in 46 one-day internationals thus far. He has taken a wicket every 29.4 deliveries at a cost of 22.15 runs each.

Brett Lee believes his countryman Cummins has everything in his armoury to unsettle the best in the business.

"Pat Cummins: pace, accuracy, variations. He can do it all," he opined.

In the absence of Starc and Josh Hazlewood, Cummins has spearheaded the Australian pace attack in the past year. In 6 ODIs this year, the 26-year-old has taken 17 wickets at an average and strike-rate of 14.29 and 19.5 respectively.
