Team India will be leaving for England to play in the World Cup on Wednesday, May 22. Before leaving, captain Kohli made a statement that ‘there will be no room for complacency during the tournament’.

Indian Cricket Team’s captain Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri attended a press conference a day prior to their day of departure for England. Both were looking quite focused and had their goals set for the tournament.

India have tough first four games, against South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan. Therefore, the players will have to be on the top of their game from day one and will have to maintain the same energy throughout without showing any complacency.

Kohli said, “We have 4 games straight up. We have no room for complacency and that's why it's the World Cup. You have to arrive on the first day match-ready and that is the challenge. All the top football clubs in the world maintain their intensity right from day one for 3-4 months, be it the Premier League or the La Liga.

The current batch of Indian players are extremely talented and will not have to do anything above their skill levels in order to lift the trophy. They can still be able to win the cup even if they play to their potential. This is the minimum expectation from the captain for the players.

The only expectation we have is to play really good cricket and that has been our focus. We are going to the World Cup feeling very well balanced. We expect ourselves to play the best cricket we can,” Kohli said.

India have a couple of weeks in England before playing their first match of the tournament. This will allow the players to get suited to the conditions.

Virat said, “It's always good to go to any place in advance. It gets rid of all the nerves in the World Cup. Playing white ball cricket in England. The conditions are not that different there as compared to playing Test cricket.
