India's Test specialist batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has finally come out with his opinion on the most discussing World Cup 2019 selection of Dinesh Karthik and Vijay Shankar on Wednesday, 24th April.

Karthik and Shankar have got the nod to India’s final-15 for the upcoming 50-over showpiece event to be played in England and Wales from 30 May -which left may at amazement, questioning the selection.

While Karthik was picked over the hot choice Rishabh Pant as the second-choice wicketkeeper, all-rounder Vijay replaced Ambati Rayudu to be India's probable No.4 in the World Cup 2019.

Since the BCCI announced India’s World Cup squad earlier this month, the duo’s selection has been questioned time and again, especially because of their average IPL 2019 campaign, but Pujara believes that Karthik and Vijay could prove handy for India in their 2019 World Cup campaign.

Speaking at the Knockout Show of Rooter Sports, Pujara explained Karthik’s, “I feel he is a very experienced player. He has seen many ups and downs in his career and so he realizes how to tackle various situations. His experience in domestic cricket, international cricket and even T20 cricket will prove to be handy for him. Now it is to see whether he gets a chance in the playing XI. If he gets a chance, his experience will prove to be handy and will be able to contribute to the team.”

On Shankar, the Saurashtra batsman said, “It is still uncertain whether Vijay is our No.4 batsman or not. But given that he is a fast-bowling all-rounder, under seaming conditions, he will prove handy. Yes, he is the least experienced player in the squad and hence it is to see how he copes up with situations. But he is a very talented player and has strong numbers in domestic cricket and has played well for India.”
