Virender Sehwag has declared a cricket match between India and Pakistan like a war, saying when the arch-rival neighbors play a match, it is nothing less than war and India should win the war.

Speaking to reporters at Goa Fest event in Panaji on Friday, 12th April, Sehwag, former India opener, made it clear that he has no intentions to join politics while suggesting people should vote for a leader who is decisive, although, the batting legend didn’t take any name.

There is a long-standing on-border tension between the two countries while the latest Pulwama terror attack put the 2019 World Cup match between Men in Green and Indian Cricket Team in doubt.

However, Sehwag said India should win the war when he was asked if India should play Pakistan in the World Cup 2019 to be played in England from 30 May.

Sehwag told reporters, “There are two points which are discussed, whether we should have a war with Pakistan or not [and whether we should play Pakistan]. That is also one point that is discussed. We should do whatever is good for the country’s welfare. When India and Pakistan play a match, it is nothing less than a war. We should win the war, not lose it.”

On being asked if he intended to join politics, he quipped, “I have always worked on contract. Right from Ranji Trophy to the Indian Premier League, whichever party gives me a good contract, I will join them. The contract should not be less than Rs 100 crore.”

Sehwag signed off by saying on the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, “I feel a leader should have the courage to take decisions, quick decisions in the interest of the country, in the interest of the army and the interest of the police.”
