New Zealand Cricket (NZC) selector Gavin Larsen on Monday (11th February) insisted that the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup doors are still open for injury-plagued Corey Anderson and Adam Milne despite being out of One-Day International cricket since 2017.
Anderson and Milne, who were a part of New Zealand's squad for the 2015 World Cup, have been struggling with injuries since and the duo are not a part of the squad for Bangladesh ODIs at home - which is their last international assignment before the World Cup 2019.
However, Larsen has insisted that the NZC Management is monitoring the duo closely, saying there is still two months to name the World Cup squad, therefore, they are still in contention for World Cup.
As per reports in Stuff.co.nz, Larsen said, “They're proven international cricketers and both are classy players. It's been really disappointing to watch both of them go through a frustrating period with their injuries. It's been really pleasing to see them both back on the park. We're monitoring them closely.”
Larsen signed off by saying, “I think a really big point here is, there's been a lot of chat and hype around the World Cup squad, it's actually still two months before we officially have to name this squad. So, there's still a bit of water to flow under the bridge.”
Noteworthy, Anderson has played 49 ODIs while Milne has played 40 ODIs for the Black Caps so far.
