Bangladesh batsman Liton Das is disappointed with the Tigers’ another close defeat at the hands of India in the Asia Cup 2018 final in Dubai last week.

Although Das did not have a memorable outing in the Asia Cup, the 23-year-old is satisfied with his performance in the six-nation One Day International tournament, saying it will encourage him to play better in the upcoming matches and instill confidence in him that he can play.

However, he found some rhythm in the Asia Cup final against India, as his century helped Bangladesh to put up a fight against the formidable Men in Green in Dubai.

Liton told Sportstar on Saturday (September 29), “Last night, the entire side was at loss of words. This was yet another final which we lost closely. It has happened in the past as well, so it was extremely disappointing for all of us. It would have been great if we could leave on a winning note.”

Bangladesh is scheduled for a hectic season until the World Cup 2019 and Das believes that century will help him to put up a good show on the board to cement his place in the national side.

The youngster further added on the same, “I was not among runs for a while. My ODI career wasn’t quite going the way I would have wanted. I could not even find a rhythm in the Asia Cup initially. Even though I scored a 41 against Afghanistan, I could not convert it into a big score. On the personal front, I am happy that I could strike form. If we are performing at a big stage and in a big-ticket match, then definitely it is a boost for a player. Scoring against a big team at a big stage is a huge deal.”

Liton signed off by saying, “All the seniors (including Mashrafe) has told me to focus on my game. All this while, I was not being able to get runs, but now that it has come, I need to keep the momentum going. That’s what the seniors have advised me. We have some big tournaments lined up and hopefully, this will help.”
