Reiterating his importance to the team, standing Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has said that the Indian Cricket Team still feeds off what the might of Mahendra Singh Dhoni has to offer and learn a lot by watching him go about his game even at this stage of the great man's illustrious career. 

On the former captain, who played a very influential role in his career, Rohit Sharma said, "We always keep learning from Dhoni bhai because he was an amazing captain. I’ve seen him captaining for so many years. He doesn’t panic and thinks before taking a decision. We have played under him for so many years, he always advises us, whatever be the situation," 

“Whatever I have seen of him (Dhoni) leading the side for all these years, he never panicked, took time while taking decisions. There are those similarities in me too,” he added.

It was the day India stamped their authority as the best side in Asia by lifting the Asia Cup 2018 trophy and Rohit Sharma is very happy having led the team towards it. 

Speaking on the great victory, the Indian opener feels, "We played some good cricket throughout the tournament and this is the reward of all the hardwork throughout the tournament. I have been part of games like this before and credit to the guys in the middle to handle the pressure and to cross the finishing line was a fantastic effort,"

Rohit also went on to express immense appreciation and respect to Bangladesh for putting up such a spirited fight on the big day against the more fancied opponent. 

"You have to give some credit to Bangladesh. They put us under pressure in the first 10 overs," he said and spoke specifically on the challenge of having to comeback with the ball in the first innings, where Liton Das(121) and Mehidy Hassan got their team off to a very good start, adding, "We thought if the ball got older, the spinners would do the work for us. It was important to keep it tight and we have done that well throughout the tournament,"

Rohit selflessly gave huge credit to his teammates for pulling off India's 7th Asia Cup win and said, "If you have a team like that, the captain will always look good. It wouldn’t be easy if we didn’t have the support of the remaining 10 players, so I am really proud of the boys,"

Playing in front of the cricket lovers from United Arab Emirates for the very first time, Rohit said, was a wonderful experience and he even thanked the crowd for their great support throughout the two-week long competition. 

"I would like to thank the crowd, who have come out in huge numbers to support us throughout the tournament and I’m sure they’re going back extremely pleased," he concluded.
