Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan put on a batting exhibition against arch-rivals Pakistan to register a thumping nine-wicket victory in the Super Four clash of the Asia Cup 2018 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

India bowlers displayed a disciplined performance to restrict Pakistan to 237/7. Spin twins Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal claimed two wickets each while pacer Jasprit Bumrah (2/29) bowled magnificently in the death overs.

Chasing the target, Rohit and Dhawan made the mockery of Pakistani bowling attack. While the stand-in Indian captain scored his 19th ODI ton, Shikhar smashed his 15th ODI century. The duo were also involved in 210 runs opening wicket stand, which is the highest in the ongoing Asia Cup.

Dhawan got run-out in the 34th over for 114. His dismissal led to Ambati Rayudu’s arrival at the crease. On the other hand, Rohit (111*) stayed at the crease till the end and saw India home with 9 wickets in hand and 63 balls to spare. By virtue of this resounding win, the Men in Blue also secured their place in the final of Asia Cup 2018.

Lauding the dominating show of his teammates, India’s regular skipper Virat Kohli took to Twitter and wrote: “Well done boys. What a joy to watch.Great win for us. Onwards and upwards.”

Kohli was rested from the 14th edition of Asia Cup because of the daunting England tour. He was one of the very few Indian players who had played all the matches against England.
