India and Bangladesh played their first match of the Super Four stage in Dubai. Bangladesh was put into bat by India captain Rohit Sharma, who won the toss and chose to field.
India made one compulsory change in replacing the injured Hardik Pandya with Ravindra Jadeja, who made his ODI comeback after more than a year. Bangladesh innings was marked by unnecessary wickets being gifted to the bowlers.
Jadeja marked his comeback with a brilliant haul of 4/29 and his wickets included Shakib (17), Mushfiqur (21), Mithun (9) and Mosaddek (12). These were all big names and all got a start, but their innings was cut short by the left-arm spinner. Only Mehidy Hasan could score some significant runs in 42.
Jadeja was helped by Bhuvneshwar Kumar who picked 3/32 and Jasprit Bumrah, who picked 3/37. In the end, Bangladesh ended up making 173 runs in 49.1 overs.
The Twitterverse was joyous in seeing Jadeja making such a good comeback and showered him with praises in their tweets.

Five full bowlers. Always makes a difference. Now, if Jadeja can become a regular no 7, India will have the balance I have been asking for, for so long.

Axar has been with the side forever...the only time India plays three spinners (and is likely to play throughout the tournament), Jadeja comes in as a replacement. And might just produce a MOTM performance... #AsiaCup #IndvBan

Confused approach by Bangladesh batsmen, not quite sure between attack and defence, picking wrong deliveries to play big shots off. Not to take anything away from India’s bowling. Jadeja top class and has wriggled back into contention for World Cup
