Asia Cup 2018: Aakash Chopra apologizes to Hong Kong for deeming them inferior before the India game

Hong Kong stunned everyone with their outstanding fight back against team India.

India survived a scare on Tuesday when Hong Kong was in some mood to surprise everyone, and just like all of us, cricket pundit Aakash Chopra had also counted the associate team out of the competition even before the game started.

"Obviously Hong Kong want their Asia Cup to last a little longer.....in terms of hours on the ground. First team to field first after winning the toss...first 300+ score coming our way. #IndvHK," he wrote, when men in blue were asked to bat first.

India could only post 285/7 after Hong Kong did well with the ball to not allow the Rohit Sharma-led side score with a good pace in the last 10 overs.

The expectations were very high from Indian bowlers to bundle out Hong Kong on less than 150. Forget all ten wickets, India couldn't even pick a single wicket as the Hong Kong openers added 174 runs for the first wicket.

At one stage, the Indian bowlers were looking hopeless and struggling to kick Hong Kong out of the contest. No one had expected it. However, they lost the game in the end. But it did teach the Indian team a lesson that cricket keeps throwing surprises at you.

Not only Indian team but Aakash was also astonished by the effort by Hong Kong batsman and after the game, he apologized to the team for ruling them out too early.

The Anshuman Rath-led Hong Kong ended with 259/8, only 26 runs short of the target when everyone presumed them not to last even 26 overs.

"Sincere apologies @CricketHK Underestimated your resolve. Lessons learnt. Go well in the future. ????????????," he tweeted.
