Afghanistan has knocked Sri Lanka out of Asia Cup 2018 after defeating them by 91 runs in the third game of this tournament at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Afghanistan opted to bat first and all their top order batsmen batted sensibly especially Rahmat Shah (72) and helped their team to post a total of 249 runs. In reply, Sri Lanka lost Kusal Mendis in the first over itself. Upul Tharanga and Dananjaya de Silva added 54 runs for the second wicket and tried to build innings but after de Silva's run out team lost the plot and kept losing wickets and eventually bundled out for just 158 runs. Rahmat Shah was named Man of the Match for his 72 runs knock. With back to back defeats Sri Lanka has been eliminated from Asia Cup while both Bangladesh and Afghanistan have qualified for Super Fours.

0.333 - Sri Lanka's win/loss ratio of 0.333 is the second lowest for a team in ODI cricket since January 2017. Only PNG have a worse win/loss ratio (0.300). Since January 2017 Sri Lanka has won only 10 out of 41 ODIs. 

1 - This 91's runs win is the first ever ODI win for Afghanistan against Sri Lanka. Afghanistan had lost previous two ODIs to Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2014 and World Cup 2015.

1 - This is the first ever Asia Cup where there will be no contest between India and Sri Lanka and Pakistan and Sri Lanka. 

5 - Afghanistan has now defeated 5 Test playing nations in ODI format. They have registered wins against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland, West Indies, and Sri Lanka in ODI cricket.

21 - Number of consecutive innings without a fifty-plus score for Kusal Mendis in ODI cricket - His last fifty plus score came against Zimbabwe in June 2017 and since then he hasn't scored a single fifty in 21 innings. 

31 - Rashid Khan has taken 31 wickets at an average of 12.12 and at a strike rate of 19.8 in just 12 ODIs he played in UAE. 

91 - This 91 runs loss is the second biggest loss for Sri Lanka in Asia Cup. The 137 runs loss to Bangladesh in the previous match is the biggest loss for them in terms of runs.
