The Asia  Cup 2018 starts from September 15 in the UAE with Bangladesh playing the tournament opener against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh have made the finals of the tournament twice but have ended on the wrong side results on both occasions.

Before the start of the tournament, the team has unveiled their jersey for the tournament. The Tigers will be sporting in the tournament a kit with the logo of Unilever product Lifebuoy. Led by Mashrafe Mortaza, the Bangladeshi side will be in the hunt for their first ever Asia Cup title.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently formed a partnership with consumer goods firm Unilever Bangladesh Limited after the premature termination of the contract with telecommunications company Robi Axiata Ltd. The new partnership is set to continue till January 2020. The sponsorship agreement was signed on September 6 by BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury and Unilever Bangladesh’s Finance Director Zahidul Islam Malita at the cricket board’s management office in Dhaka.

“Unilever is an internationally renowned brand with a proven track record. On behalf of the BCB I thank Unilever Bangladesh for coming forward and taking the initiative to contribute to cricket. This ushers a fresh promise and opens a new door of long-term cooperation and relationship,” Bangladesh’s The Daily Star had quoted Chowdhury as saying.

Mortaza’s side is clubbed with Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in Group B of the upcoming edition to be played in the UAE. Two teams will advance from two groups to the Super Four Stage and the best two teams from there will go to the final. India, Pakistan and Hong Kong are in the other group. Bangladesh will play Afghanistan in their second game of the group on September 20.
