Asia Cup 2018: Defending Champions India get exclusive treatment, to play games only in Dubai

Team India will start their Asia Cup campaign against HK on Sept 18.

Team India led by Rohit Sharma will stay at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai | AFPRohit Sharma and the Indian team will be treated exclusively for the Asia Cup 2018. They will be reaching the tournament late and playing their first game on September 18. By then Sri Lanka would have played two matches already.

According to the Mumbai Mirror, The Indian team has been booked to stay at the Grand Hyatt, while the rest of the teams in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong are being housed in the Intercontinental.

Indian team was also supposed to be staying at the Intercontinental with the other teams, but their accommodation was changed to the Grand Hyatt at the last minute.

The Indian team will play all their matches at the Dubai International Stadium and will not be traveling to Abu Dhabi, even if they reach the semifinal of the tournament. It has been agreed that should India reach the semifinals, the match will be played in Dubai, with the final scheduled to be played also in Dubai on September 28.

The reason given for the Indian team’s exclusive accommodation is that being the hosts of the tournament, they can have the privileges they want but it was also explained that the BCCI entourage, which will include staff and sponsors, needed a bigger and exclusive accommodation.
