Asia Cup 2018: Bangladesh announce preliminary squad, Liton Das returns

There are 12 debutants in the Bangladesh squad.

Bangladesh has announced an initial 31 man squad for the Asia Cup 2018 which starts from September 15 in the UAE. Liton Das, the right-handed opener has returned to the side after his impressive knock in the deciding T20I against the Windies where he scored a 32 ball 61 to win the game for his side. 

All-rounder Soumya Sarkar and top order batter Monimul Haque has also been recalled into the side. Mohammad Ashraful who has just completed his five-month ban (August 13) has been left out of the side. 

12 among the initial  31 selected in the primary squad are debutants. They are Fazle Mahmud Rabbi, Zakir Hasan, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Nayeem Hasan, Shoriful Islam, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Abu Jayed, Ariful Haque, Nazmul Islam, Abu Hider Rony and Shaif Uddin.

The 2018 Asia Cup will be played between 16 and 26 September. Bangladesh are in the mix with Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, while India and Pakistan will share a group with the winner of the Asia Cup Qualifier- Oman, Malaysia, UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong and Nepal will fight it out for the final spot. 

The winners and runners-up of both groups will go into a Super Four, where the top two will go up against each other in the final in Dubai.
