Australia pacer Pat Cummins picked up seven wickets in the fourth Test match. He was the pick of the bowler and played a significant role in retaining Ashes.

Many aren't aware that Cummins has a damaged middle finger. When he was three years old, he lost part of his finger. His sister had slammed the door on his finger, unknowingly. After the accident, Cummins lost a centimeter of his middle finger. His middle finger is of the same height as the index finger of the right hand.

"It doesn't affect me because the affected finger is about the same length as the other one (the index finger)," Cummins had said in an interview in 2011. Former Australia pacer Brett Lee felt the finger could well be an advantage for Cummins. "His unique predicament may aid the ball coming out of the fingers with a nice seam position," Lee said.
