Cricket fraternity reacts on Twitter to Australia’s 4-0 drubbing of England in Ashes 2017-18

Steve Smith topped the batting charts with 687 runs in the 5 match Ashes series 2017-18.

Australia dominated the home Ashes series of 2017/18, winning the series by a margin of 4-0 against England. Only the Test at Melbourne ended in a draw, with Australia winning all the remaining Tests.

Australia defeated England at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) by an innings and 123 runs. England was also hit by the illness suffered by their captain Joe Root, who was hospitalized due to viral gastroenteritis. It was a total team effort by the Australian bowling department as their bowlers topped the wicket charts - Pat Cummins with 23, Mitchell Starc with 22, and Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon each with 21.

The Marsh brothers also contributed with the bat in this match, scoring a century each and adding 169 runs for the 5th wicket. Shaun Marsh scored 156 and Mitchell Marsh scored 101.

Steve Smith topped the batting charts and was named the Man of the series for his 687 runs in the 5 match series.

Twitter was abuzz as Australia finished the winning formalities as Josh Hazlewood bounced James Anderson out. The cricketing fraternity paid their tributes to the winning Australian team on Twitter.
