Australia has recalled left-arm spinner Ashton Agar into the Test squad for the fifth and final Test at Sydney as they look to go in with a twin spin attack to limit the England batting. The 24-year-old, who played his last test against Bangladesh in Chittagong in September, has been included alongside regular spinner Nathan Lyon for the fourth Test match in Sydney.

Mitchell Starc, who missed the ongoing Melbourne test due to a heel injury, and middle-order batsman Peter Handscomb, who was dropped from the side after the second Adelaide test, have been retained in the 14-man squad.

If Starc proves his fitness, Agar could be included at the expense of seam bowling all-rounder Mitchell Marsh. Agar’s comeback would limit Steve O  Keefe’s chances of a Test comeback who was impressive in the series against India picking 12 wickets in the Pune Test match.

The fourth Test match at Melbourne ended in a draw after Steve Smith scored his 23rd Test ton as he finished the day unbeaten on 102.
