Ashes 2017: Steve Smith’s fiancé Dani Willis plays key role in his massive success

Australian skipper and number one ranked Test batsman – Steve Smith has been phenomenal with the bat since 2015. On Saturday, the stylish right-hander hits his 22nd Test ton in the third Magellan Ashes Test at WACA Ground in Perth and became the most voracious run-getter of the modern era.

At the moment, Smith averages a whopping 60 plus in Test and continue dominating the England side with his brilliant Captaincy skill as well as with his stunning show with the bat, as he smashed 141 runs in the first Ashes Test, and now hit brilliant 239 runs in Perth and put his team in the commanding position in the third Ashes Test against England. He has now 5796 Test runs under his belt.

The 28-year-old’s Manager Warren Craig, on Sunday, revealed that Smith’s fiancé Dani Willis played a vital role his success. Craig went to further reveal that the right-hander, who started his cricketing career as a spinner, takes help from his fiancé while practicing at nets for the games.

Speaking to BCC Test Match Special, Craig said, “If he’s at dwelling and he can’t discover anybody else to go and apply with, he will get his fiancé to feed balls into the bowling machine simply so he can go and have a success. Dani enjoys that part of the things. She has been absolutely fantastic for Steve.”

In June this year, Smith got engaged to his long-time girlfriend Willis – a Law student, helps the Aussie skipper as a bowling-machine operator outside of sessions with Australia and New South Wales.

On being asked how important role she has played in Smith’s career, Craig replied, “She is such a pivotal half to the success of what you see on the sphere. She’s a relaxing effect. She is aware of when his thoughts are ticking over an excessive amount of, to the type of get his thoughts away from cricket. They’re an incredible couple of and acquired engaged lately.”

Meanwhile, Willis says Smith’s success secret is an unerring focus towards the day job, adding, “He’s very intense, staying in the zone all the time.”

Steve Smith-led Australian side took a 2-0 lead in the ongoing Ashes series and now on the verge to wrap up the five-Test series and claim the Urn with the Perth victory against England.
