England wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow made headlines for his off-field antics earlier this month and was on the radar after his headbutt incident with the Australian opener Cameron Bancroft in the Avenue bar in Perth, during the third Magellan Ashes Test at WACA.

But this time, the 28-year-old came under the spotlight for the good reason, as the right-hander made a blistering ton on the 2 Day at WACA and helped his team to post 403 runs on the board in their first innings against the Steve Smith-led Australian side in the third Ashes Test.

The most entertaining thing of his celebration was his making fun of the Cameron Bancroft headbutt fiasco, as the English man knocking his head against his helmet three times by looking to the skies while celebrating his knock. It was his finest Ashes moment so far who left a great impression on himself.

Jonny Bairstow told BT Sport after stumps in Perth, “It was just a bit of light fun and that's exactly how it should be taken. This morning was pretty tough but I was delighted to get my first Ashes hundred, it's something as a boy you really want to do. To get it at the WACA away from home means a hell of a lot. I have played in a few Ashes series and to score a hundred is what you dream about as a kid. It has eluded me until now and a whole heap of emotions came running through. That’s what Ashes cricket – the pinnacle of our sport – is all about.”

He further added, “We could have kicked on and got a few more but after being 100-4 [sic], we'd have taken that. Tomorrow morning is a crucial session for us. Come the end of tomorrow who knows what could happen. The wicket's offering a decent amount so we need to get it in the right areas.”

Bairstow concluded, “We're very fortunate to have those guys coming in at seven, eight, nine and Broady's got a Test hundred coming in at 10. It's tough coming in for those guys because those guys [Australia's pace attack] are ruthless. Unfortunately today that risk-reward wasn't on the right side for myself.”
