The second Ashes test started on 2nd of December in Adelaide with England putting Australia to bat first.

The second Ashes test match is perhaps one bowling spell drifting of England.  Australia will take this away and quickly at that. This first session, with the second new ball and the freshness in the pitch, is England's chance. They'll have to get their lines and lengths bang on, and then take their catches, or this Adelaide sun can bake the pitch - and the bowling - along with England's Ashes dream. Australia were 4 down for 209 runs after the end of day 1 with every player chipping in with Khawaja scoring his 9th test half-century.

The day 2 started with a wicket of Handscomb in the very first over of the day, the new ball effect had dismissed well settled Handscomb for 36 runs. Stuart Broad had taken his 392nd wicket only 8 short to register himself on the 400 name list.

England throughout the match has been clinching wickets at a quick interval from the start of the match. Then came the most talked about wicket-keeper batsman to the crease Tim Paine who was supposed to stabilize the Australia innings to give England a compatible lead in the second innings.

Tim Paine did not have a very great first test match with taking only a few catches with the gloves behind the stumps, his team unit wanted him to perform. He pleased his captain with the sigh of relief and a quick half-century on the board with striking 7 boundaries to his name.

He registered his 3rd test International half-century to give his team a little support but unfortunately was fallen short on 57 and 85 runs partnership was broken by the debutant Craig Overton taking his 2nd International wicket.

After the first session od Day, 2 Australia would be really happy to cross 300 runs with Stuart board clinching stubborn Handscomb in the first over of the day and Tim Paine showing up with his quick half-century. The experienced old horse Shaun Marsh is still holding Australia's innings to 306 for 6 with Starc joining.

England bowlers will like to jolt all Australia's wicket down in the second session with young Overton and Broad hunting for wickets.

The second session of the day was preceded by Stuart Broad's short delivery that took Starc's wicket, easy catch for James Anderson at mid-wicket. Shaun Marsh still looking for a solid partnership as he crossed his 9th half-century in the test.

Shaun Marsh has always shown up in the difficult situation, in the previous match where it was so important to stick with the Captain and now the only player who is keeping the scoreboard ticking and increasing.

England bowlers must have impressed their bowling coach Silverwood with taking quick breakthroughs after every interval. The pendulum of the match is still alive with Shaun Marsh fighting hard to cross Australia's lead to 400 plus.

The way Shaun Marsh has batted shows the class he carries with himself with extraordinary patience he has some great slogging skills.

Pat Cummings comes to the crease joining Marsh in the field, he will act as an extra factor in his ability to bat lower order Australia has an edge over the visitors.

Shaun Marsh scored a brilliant century to give his team an advantage over England with Pat Cummings also chipping in for a wonderful innings. It happened in Ashes 2013 Brisbane where England was not able to counter Australia's lower order and now in Adelaide.

After the end of the second session, Australia was comfortably sitting on driver's seat with 409 for 7. Darren Lehmann would have expected the same from his team with Australia's innings in control.No England bowler was effective enough to clinch a single wicket in the second session. 

At the start of the third session, the debutant Overton clinched Cummins's  wicket and the  99 run partnership was broken for eighth wicket partnership.Australia had declared their innings 442 for 8. Shaun Marsh was not out on 126 that made Australia in a position to win the second test also.

England bowlers felt relieved after Steven Smith declared the innings as they were tired bowling in hope to get a wicket. Only pacers were the one to take wickets with Overton getting 3 crucial wickets.

England came to bat in the third session of the play with a huge responsibility on the openers. Mitchell Starc did not let that happen he outplayed Stoneman with his extra pace early in the second innings.

The second day ended with England 29 for 1 down. They are still trailing Australia from 413 runs at the end of today's play. The second day witnessed some astonishing cricket with 266 runs scored and only 5 wickets been taken in the whole day. Australia has an edge over the visitors because of the massive lead. 

The third day will witness the exact amount of intense cricket between the two nations.
