South Africa beat Australia by 40 runs in the third and last ODI at Bellerive Oval in Hobart and clinched the three-match ODI series by 2-1.

Australia asked South Africa to bat first and Mitchell Starc gaved them a perfect start by removing Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram and reduced the visitors to 55/3 but Faf du Plessis (125) and David Miller (139) rebuilt the innings and added 252 runs for the fourth wicket and helped to post a total of 320/5.

In the chase, Australia also had a poor start and lost 3 wickets for just 39 runs. Shaun Marsh (106) and Marcus Stoinis (63) brought back Australia into the game but after their dismissal team lost the plot and lower order batsmen couldn't score required runs against the top quality bowling for South Africa and eventually finished on 278/9 and lost the game by 40 runs and series by 2-1. David Miller was named Man of the Match and Man of the Series.
