AUS v SA 2018: WATCH – Adam Zampa caught putting something on the ball from his pocket during the 2nd ODI

Australia defeated South Africa in the second ODI at Adelaide.

Adam Zampa was caught doing something that might create controversy

The second ODI between Australia and South Africa in Adelaide ended up in Australia winning the match and leveling the series 1-1. South Africa had won the first ODI at Perth in a dominating fashion.

Australia scored 231 runs thanks to Alex Carey’s 47 and other scores of 40s from Aaron Finch and Chris Lynn. Kagiso Rabada picked 4/54 while Dwaine Pretorius picked three for the Proteas.

In reply, South Africa looked good to chase down the total, but apart from Du Plessis (47) and David Miller (51), no other Proteas batsman managed to string a partnership together and South Africa fell short of the target by 7 runs, ending up on 224/9. Marcus Stoinis picked three wickets while Starc and Hazlewood picked two each.

In all the commotion, some eagle-eyed viewer at home noticed something amiss during the Australian bowling.

Aussie legspinner Adam Zampa was starting his fifth over and for a moment seemed to put his hand in his trouser pocket and then rubbed the same hand on the ball to shine it. He also seemed to hand something off to Glen Maxwell before shining the ball.

This surely brought back some memories of the ball-tampering saga in which Cameron Bancroft used a piece of sandpaper to change the condition of the ball and copped a nine-month ban along with David Warner and Steve Smith copping 12-month bans each from Cricket Australia.
