Veteran India batsman Suresh Raina congratulated MS Dhoni on achieving a rare feat in the One Day Internationals, as the vintage batsman completed 10,000 ODI runs for India on Saturday.

Dhoni achieved the landmark while playing for India in the first ODI of the three-match series against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday (January 12).

With the latest incredible feat at the SCG, the 37-year-old joined the elite list of the Indian greats, as he became just the fifth player after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and Virat Kohli to have amassed 10,000 ODI runs for India.

Meanwhile, Dhoni also became the only 12th player in the history of white-ball cricket to reach the 10000-run club. Besides five Indians, the other players in the elite list are Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara, Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka), Ricky Ponting (Australia), Jacques Kallis (South Africa), Brian Lara (West Indies) and Inzamam-ul-Haq (Pakistan).

Noteworthy, Dhoni faced a tough time in 2018, as the wicket-keeper batsman struggled to deliver in England, Asia Cup, as well as, in the home series against the West Indies.

But former Indian skipper made the fine start to 2019, as Dhoni scored valuable 51 laced with 3 boundaries and 1 maxim when India needed the most in Sydney, though, his gritty innings could not save the match for his country as they lost the first ODI by 34 runs to Australia on Saturday.
