Team India have decided not to include Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul in the first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday (January 12). The decision was taken after CoA member Diana Edulji recommended a ‘suspension pending inquiry’ against the duo for their controversial comments on women during a TV show.

As per a PTI report, Rahul was not considered for selection while Pandya will be left out from the ODI series opener at least. A final verdict on the matter is still awaited.

“The team management has told Pandya that he is not playing tomorrow (Saturday) as they are yet to get a final directive. Rahul, in any case, wasn’t in contention for a first XI berth,” a source close to the development quoted as saying by PTI.

“The team management is waiting for an official communication on whether there is a provisional suspension and if they will be sent back,” he added.

On Wednesday (December 9), the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators sent a show-cause notice to both Pandya and Rahul, seeking clarification for their "misogynistic" and "sexist" comments on the show hosted by renowned Bollywood director Karan Johar.

Subsequently, CoA chief Vinod Rai proposed the two-match suspension for Pandya and Rahul but his colleague Edulji referred the matter to BCCI’s legal team.
