The victory was special and so was the celebration of Indian cricketers. They were laughing, dancing, hooting and what not. Even the calm and simple guy like Cheteshwar Pujara was forced to dance while India took a lap of honor to thank their fans for the support.

It was a dominating performance by India and Virat acknowledged the contribution by his teammates.

A video was shared on the official website of BCCI in which Kohli was very happy to lead the team which created history. He expressed his thankfulness to God for the opportunity.

"The early positive and happy thoughts right now. Couldn't have dreamt of anything bigger. As we said our transition started from this very place in 2014-15 and now life has come a full circle.

"We won our first series in Australia and for me, this comes at the top of the pile, nothing comes even close because we understand how difficult it is to come here and win. So I'm only grateful to God that we got the opportunity to create a history. I am happy for all the teammates and really proud as a captain," he said.

Team India will now play a three-match ODI series against Australia from Jan 12 and will then move to neighboring New Zealand for a five-match ODI and three-match T20I series.
