India skipper Virat Kohli was seen wearing pink gloves with pink bat grip and stickers when he arrived at the crease on Day 1 of the ongoing fourth and final Test against Australia at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground.

After his special gesture to support the McGrath Foundation, Kohli is garnering praise from various quarters. On Saturday (January 5), the legendary Glenn McGrath himself said that the Indian captain’s action has won his heart.

The New Year's Test ever since McGrath’s late wife Jane, who died because of breast cancer in 2008, has been organised by Cricket Australia (CA) as the Pink Test. The tradition also continued this year to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation, which works towards breast cancer awareness and aid.

"One night Virat Kohli came up to me and he said that he had something special for Sydney. I have got my pink ready, it is all pinked up for Sydney," McGrath said in an interview to the host broadcasters.

"And then when he walked out to bat and to see the pink on his glove and his pads and his pink bat with the grip, logo all in pink... It was a very special moment," he added.

On Day 3, Team India presented Glenn McGrath with signed pink caps and celebrated the occasion in honour of former pacer's late wife.

"Well Pink is a colour that I never had around during cricket here when I was younger. But now half my wardrobe is pink. When you see big, strong boys wearing pink... you know it is special," McGrath said.

Even the hosts led by Tim Paine and co-vice captain Josh Hazlewood handed over their own specially designed caps to Glenn on the Jane McGrath day at the SCG.

The pink caps of Indian and the Australian cricketers will be auctioned off to raise funds for the cause.
