The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been phenomenal for India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara – who amassed his second century of the series during Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.

Pujara struck a patient 106 off 319 balls and was involved in a partnership of 170 with his captain Virat Kohli as India piled up 443/7 before declaring.

The century came after Saurashtra batsman had taken the team out of dire straits in the opening Test with a stupendous ton. While Pujara scored 123 and 71 across two innings in India’s 31-run victory at the Adelaide Oval, he scored just 28 runs from both innings in the second game at Perth. But Pujara once again found the rhythm in the third Test, scoring his 17th ton to put India in a commanding position.

Seeing his batting prowess in the series, former England captain Michael Vaughan hailed Pujara on Thursday, saying that India’s No.3 is a rare commodity as he plays Test cricket the way it should be played.

Taking to Twitter, Vaughan wrote: “Of all the Batsman around today .. Lots I love and admire for stroke play,power & innovation ... but my new favourite is @cheteshwar1 ... He plays Test cricket the proper way ... Grinds em down and knows his strengths & sticks to em ... Love it ... #Steve #AUSvIND”.
