Cheteshwar Pujara had scored a hundred in Adelaide as well, helping India winning the match.

India declared their first innings at 443/7 after the fall of Ravindra Jadeja’s wicket. Rohit Sharma remained not out on 63, while Rahane and Pant contributed scores of 34 and 39 respectively. Virat Kohli was the first wicket to fall today, as he scored 82 runs. He was hampered by his back problem and was caught by Finch at third man off Starc.

However, the man of the moment for India proved to be the ever-dependable Cheteshwar Pujara, who completed his second ton of the series and first at MCG. Pujara hit 106 in 319 balls with 10 fours and added 170 runs for the third wicket with Virat Kohli, taking India to a strong position, from where they can now command the game.

His innings was an ode to old-school Test match batting, given the pitch was a slow one with uneven bounce. His century was applauded by everyone at the ‘G’ and even former cricketers, commentators and the cricket fraternity took to Twitter to congratulate Pujara on a brilliant innings.
