Australia captain Tim Paine has been at his very best with the banter in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. With India building a commanding first innings total on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, Paine decided to sledge Rohit Sharma with IPL bait.

Paine kept talking to Aaron Finch to distract Rohit, who was on strike against Nathan Lyon. The Aussie skipper told Finch that he will start supporting Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League if Sharma goes for a six at the MCG.

"It's a bit of a toss up between Royals and Indians for me. But if Rohit hits a six now, I'm changing to Mumbai," stump mic. caught Paine as saying.

As Rohit didn’t react to Paine’s chatter, the Australian captain turned his attention to Finch.

"You've nearly played for every team now," Paine continued.

"Except Bangalore," Finch replied.

"Except Bangalore?" Paine questioned.

He also joked that there are too many England players at Rajasthan Royals, referring to Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, who are in RR’s squad.

“Too many Poms at the Royals,” Paine said.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma scored his 10th half-century (63*) in Test cricket as India declared their first innings on 443/7 at MCG. Australian finished the second day on 8/0, with openers Marcus Harris and Finch playing on 5* and 3* respectively.
