The 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar series stands 1-1 with India winning at Adelaide and Australia winning in Perth.

The first day of the third Test belonged to India, as the won the toss and chose to bat. India fielded two new openers in Hanuma Vihari and debutant Mayank Agarwal. Agarwal was previously in the squad for Windies Tests at home but had to wait a long time to get his rightful place in Team India.

And Agarwal celebrated the occasion with a masterful 76 off 161 balls with 8 fours and 1 six. He saw off the new ball well during the initial phase and India barely made any runs till lunch. But Mayank became comfortable and started hitting some shots.

Mayank Agarwal was the second Indian batsman to score a fifty on debut in Australia, after Dattu Phadkar's 51 against Australia on debut in Sydney, on the 1947/48 tour.

Agarwal was hitting the ball well when a short delivery from Cummins caught an edge from him and was caught by Paine down the leg side.

However, the cricket fraternity was elated by Agarwal finally getting his much due chance and showered applause on Twitter.
