Australia batsman Travis Head stressed on the need to carry the momentum gained from the massive Perth victory over India into the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to keep it's grasp on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home.

Following the Adelaide defeat, the hosts made a brilliant comeback in the four-match Test series by winning the second Test by 146 runs in Perth last week. The way Australia has shown a lot of fight and kept India under pressure, it just needs to continue in the same way at MCG, felt Head.

Head told The Age on Friday, “We need to make sure we continue the momentum. I thought the way we batted in the big moments of the game and the way we built pressure with the bat, the way we built pressure in the field, it was a great week. We will try to continue that on Boxing Day.”

Meanwhile, the left-hander scored 72 and 14 in the first Test at Adelaide while his gritty 58 in the first innings helped Australia to post 326 in Perth, but the southpaw isn't satisfied with his approach with the willow, as he wants to fix it before the third Test against India.

The 24-year-old further added, “It's OK to be positive, and we have been backed from the dressing room to be positive, and continue to play my game. It was probably a lot different from Adelaide -- it was grind it out, batted a lot of time in the middle. The wicket [in Perth] was a bit different.”

Head signed off by saying, “Obviously [with] the pace of the wicket, I thought I could take on the game a little bit more. [I will] learn from that. We are going to Melbourne which is, obviously, a good batting wicket [and will try to go] back to how I batted in Adelaide.”
