AUS v IND 2018-19: Glenn Maxwell calls Rishabh Pant an exceptional talent

Maxwell also opined on Pant's relentless banter behind stumps.

Rishabh Pant | GettyIndian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is making all sorts of headlines thanks to his incessant chirping behind the stumps. However, his glovework and batting are yet to impress many people in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which stands at 1-1.

The 21-year-old has scored 119 runs at 29.75 in the ongoing series and with more batting friendly conditions coming up at the MCG and SCG, he could prove to be the trump card that India needs to make the series exciting. He showed what he can do as he reeled off a brilliant Test hundred against England recently.

One of is admirers is his former teammate at the IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Glenn Maxwell.

Maxwell said, "He's an amazing talent. We have only seen him scratch the surface in terms of his ability. I've been glued to my TV every time he's come out to bat ... if he does get going, it's pretty good to watch.

Maxwell added, "He's extremely talented ... he played some extraordinary innings for us over there. He got an amazing hundred, where he just kept reserve-scooping balls with a straight bat, over the third man for six. I think he was a gymnast growing up, so he's extremely flexible. He can manipulate his body into different positions to hit the ball."

Pant snatched a record-breaking 11 catches in Adelaide and Maxwell also opined on his banter.

Maxwell said, "He speaks a fair amount of dross. Having spent the whole IPL with him, I certainly learned that first hand .. I used to hear it all the time in the change rooms, at training. It was pretty nonstop. We were pretty close during the IPL, which was nice."
