AUS v IND 2018-19: Adam Gilchrist hails Pat Cummins' run-out of Pujara the "best ever"

Pujara has now been dismissed run out 4 times in year 2018.

Pat Cummins was the star for Australia in the opening day of the first Test with his brilliant bowling and fielding, as the Pacer made the crucial Indian wickets –Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara his victim in Adelaide to crush the pillar of the touring side here on Thursday (December 6).

However, legendary wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist, who is commenting in the Border–Gavaskar Trophy, is highly impressed with Cummins’ spectacular fielding efforts rather than his pace attack in Adelaide.

The pacer took the crucial wicket of Indian skipper Kohli and then R Ashwin, but it was Pujara’s “inspirational” run-out by Cummins won the heart of Gilchrist on Thursday.

Gilchrist said while commentating for Fox Cricket, “That should not be allowed! A fast bowler who has bowled 20 overs, (does this) in the last two minutes of the day. What an athlete! What a way to finish for the Australians. That’ll have their tails up. What an inspirational run-out by Pat Cummins. That’s the best run-out ever! I’m calling it, I’m calling it early!”

Adam Gilchrist hailed Cummins' runout the best everThe 25-year-old made a sensational effort to affect a wonderful run-out to get rid of Pujara at the last minute of the day's play and Gilchrist rated it as the best run-out ever in the game of cricket.

Noteworthy, the Indian middle-order batsman stole the show in Adelaide with his brilliant century and was looking to score much more, but was caught short of the crease by Cummins who couldn't have asked for more on the opening days of Down Under against India.

The stunning dismissal got to see in the 88th over of India’s innings when the centurion Pujara tried to steal a single after hitting the ball towards mid-on off Josh Hazlewood delivery, but Cummins steal the show at the end by completing a stunning dismissal with a brilliant throw to ran out Saurashtra man.

On Day 1 of the action-packed series opener, Cummins showed ridiculous athleticism, dived full-length to his right despite not being in full control, grabbing the ball and throw it in motion, affected a direct hit whilst being couple of feet in the air, eventually, run out Pujara after a solid 123 off 246 deliveries.
