Cricket Australia(CA) is hoping to see Day/Night Test become a permanent feature for matches at the Adelaide Oval, following a genuine decrease in the stadium turn out for the ongoing game against India.

Australia couldn't continue with the tradition of hosting a pink-ball encounter in South Australia because of BCCI's reluctance for the same. Resulting in day one attendance of 23,802, which is the lowest since the great stadium went through a manufacturing revamp in 2013.

"No doubt we have lost that particular group of fans (who like D/N Tests) for this Test. We are looking forward to the day-night Test coming back to Adelaide," CA CEO Kevin Roberts told SEN Radio, reflecting how a day Test at the venue cost them financially, "You look at the way fans have embraced it. I am an advocate for day-night Test cricket but it doesn't matter what I think, it's what the fans think."

The International Cricket Council(ICC) has already given hosts board the permission to decide on whether to play the D/N Test or not. But Roberts expressed hopes that India might get on board from their next Test tour down under, in 2020-21.

He said, "Let's hope so. We will take it one step at a time. We embrace that they have a different view of this Test match but we hope in time, with the sentiment from fans, we can have a day-night Test."

What's actually adding to CA's woes is the fact that the ticket sales for inaugural Test at new Perth stadium haven’t been very encouraging either. Though, Roberts is optimistic that it'll change with a close finish in Adelaide.

"I would suggest it's something to do with that it's not a regular fixture on the calendar, it's a new venue, it's close to Christmas. Hopefully, it goes for five days here [in Adelaide] and the cricket community is inspired to attend in bigger numbers than what we suspect," he signed off.
