Ravi Shastri, head coach of the Indian Cricket Team, has given an update on the injured Prithvi Shaw ahead of the Test series opener in Adelaide, revealing that the young batsman is recovering quickly and has already started walking on Wednesday (December 5).

Shaw has been ruled out of the first Test of the four-match Test Series Down Under, starting from December 6 (Thursday) at Adelaide Oval following a left ankle injury while attempting a catch at the boundary ropes during the one-off practice match against Cricket Australia XI in Sydney.

With the 19-year-old has shown good progress and could be available for the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting from November 14 in Perth, the Coach feels that Shaw will be back for the Boxing Day Test, while the team management is hoping to get him to run a bit by the weekend.

Speaking to Cricket Australia, Shastri told media, “It was heartbreaking to see him go down. But the good thing is he's recovering quickly. He's already started walking. Hopefully, if we can get him to run a bit by the weekend, that's really good signs. With youth on his side, there might just be a case where he might recover quicker. We'll make a call as and when we get closer to Perth.”

Meanwhile, has named a 12-man squad, whereas the hosts have announced their XI for the first match of the four-match Test series, starting from December 6 in Adelaide.
