In a bid to prepare for the all-important Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under, Team India will play a four-day practice match against Cricket Australia XI from Wednesday (November 28). And for this, the Indian players have already started to sweat it out in the nets.

The only warm-up match will be played at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground while the four-match Test series will get underway from November 6 at the Adelaide Oval.

On Tuesday (November 27), the official account of BCCI posted a number of pictures on Twitter in which Virat Kohli and company can be seen honing their skills.

“Prep underway as #TeamIndia gear up for their tour game against CA XI,” BCCI wrote in the caption of the image.

India's preparation for overseas tours has come under heavy scrutiny after two consecutive Test series losses outside Asia. Ahead of the five-Test series in England, India were scheduled to play only one four-day warm-up game against the county side Essex. Notably, the team management had decided to reduce the practice match to three days and fielded all 18 players in it.

Similarly, the world No. 1 Test side were slated to play a two-day warm-up match against South Africa before the first Test. However, the Indian team management had opted out of the practice match and rather conducted their own training sessions.

Kohli and his troops are widely deemed as favourites to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India have never won a Test series in Australia, with its best result being a 1-1 draw in 2003-04.

India’s Test squad versus Australia:

Virat Kohli(c), Murali Vijay, Lokesh Rahul, Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Parthiv Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar
