David Warner was seen facing the premier Australian fast bowlers - Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood - in the nets at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday, November 25.

Gearing up for the Test series against India later in the home summer, the Australian team management needed quality practice time for its main weapons and this is when, it is learnt, Warner responded to the call.

In March 2018, Cricket Australia banned Steve Smith, David Warner for one year and Cameron Bancroft for a period of 9 months, after the trio was found out guilty of the offence where they were deliberately trying to alter the condition of the ball during the Cape Town Test against South Africa using a piece of sandpaper.

The incident raised allegations and doubts about the moral and ethical values of the kind of culture that Australian Cricket seems to have developed over the years.

This is when the earlier head coach Darren Lehmann resigned from his position despite his contract not expiring till the completion of Ashes 2019.

Warner, who arrived having made a rapid 49-ball 81 for Randwick-Petersham in a T20 match against UTS North Sydney earlier in the day, received a barrage of proper bouncers and really stern fast bowling as head coach Justin Langer and skipper Tim Paine wanted adequate and accurate preparation for their quick-men.

Bowling with new red Kookaburra balls, Hazlewood and Cummins were operating at full pace against Warner and had the left-hander jumping around his crease.

Playing the final T20I against India at Sydney, Mitchell Starc wasn't available for the practice but is expected to join the Test squad soon.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy kickstarts with the first Test at Adelaide from Thursday, December 6.
