Krunal Pandya had a horror day in the first T20I at Brisbane as he went for 55 runs in his four overs without picking a wicket and social media was filled with calls for dropping him for the second T20I.
However, India persisted with Krunal in the second T20I at MCG and was rewarded aptly as the left-arm spinner gave just 26 runs in his four overs and picked up a wicket. The lone wicket picked by him was that of the dangerous Glenn Maxwell, the hero of the first T20I.
This time too, Maxwell was setting himself for another big one as the final few overs were approaching. He had scored 19 runs off 22 balls with one four and that boundary had come off Krunal in the same over. If one remembers, Glenn Maxwell had taken a special liking towards the Baroda boy and smashed him for 3 sixes in an over in the first T20I.
However, Pandya removed him with a brilliant ball that gripped the surface and turned a bit to hit the top of the off stump.
Australia managed to reach 132/7 in 19 overs before the rains interrupted the innings.
