Australia clinched a 4 runs (DLS method) thrilling win over India in the first T20I match at Gabba in Brisbane and took a 1-0 lead in the three match T20I series. Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bowl first and bowlers started well as they conceded only 42 runs for one wicket in the first 7 overs but Chris Lynn, Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell smashed Khaleel Ahmed and Krunal Pandya all over the park and scored more than 90 runs in middle overs and had scored 153 runs in 16.1 overs before the rain break and finished on 158/4 in their 17 overs.

India needed to score 174 runs by DLS method. In reply Shikhar Dhawan gave a brisk start and scored 76 runs in just 42 balls but didn't get enough support from the other end as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul all got out cheaply. In the end India needed 60 runs in last 4 overs with Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant at the crease and the duo scored 36 runs in next two overs and India needed 24 runs in the final two overs but both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik got out and eventually India fell short of the target by 4 runs. Adam Zampa was named Man of the Match for his 2 vital wickets.
