AUS v IND 2018-19: Glenn McGrath predicts the scoreline for the Australia- India Test series

McGrath says the absence of Aussie stalwarts won't affect them if they play as per their reputation.

Despite the absence of key players, India can't afford to go easy on Australia given the reputation they have. Even former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath has warned India to not take the Kangaroos lightly. He also believes Australia are still favorites to win the series by 4-0.

“The hole that Steve Smith and David Warner have left will be tough to fill. But it is a great opportunity for any young batsmen, if they can perform well they can cement their place in the Australian squad. It will be an interesting series, but I think Australia will still win 4-0,” McGrath told India Today.

McGrath is giving India a chance only because Steve Smith and David Warner are not playing. “But seriously, without Smith and Warner, it will be a close series. Australia will have to play very, very well if they have to win,” he added.

Before India and Australia go against each other in red-ball cricket, they are set to play in a 3-match T20I series from November 21.

India is more concerned about their batting than bowling. The Indian captain Virat Kohli had also spoken about the much-needed support batting unit have to provide to their bowlers.

“We are focused on how the batsmen can bat well together and not just individually. Bowlers are in a good space and after a long time we have an attack which is capable of picking 20 wickets,” Kohli told reporters before flying to Australia.
