Having sent down 20 overs for New South Wales in a Sheffield Shield game against Queensland at Manuka Oval in Canberra, right-arm pacer Pat Cummins is confident of his fitness and feels "ready" for the red-ball tussle against the visiting Indian side.

Cummins made a return from back injury and featured during the three-match ODI series versus South Africa, but was subsequently rested for the T20Is and instead chose to spend time gaining invaluable workout ahead of the important series.

"Anytime you come off a lay-off you've got an idea of how you're travelling but it's not until you play a game that you get a feel for how your form is," Cummins, who picked up 3/41 for NSW, was quoted saying on Saturday, November 17 by cricket.com.au,

"For me, not bowling heaps in games over the past few months, knowing I can bowl 20 overs in a day pretty easy, my legs still fresh and I feel ready to do it again in the second innings."

"I feel like I'm ready for a Test match now," he reaffirmed.

On working alongside a world-class bowling attack, featuring Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon, Cummins said, "We've shown when we bowl together, and bowl well, more often than not we're going to get 20 wickets," before stressing, "Especially for me, in my role, we'll bowl a spell of bouncers a game, a spell with the old ball just before the new ball, so I got all that practice in, got some miles in the legs."

Looking forward to the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at Adelaide from December 6, Cummins, in a way, warned the visitors and reiterated, "I feel like I've covered most of the areas you're going to get in a Test match, and you know what kind of space you're in and how you're bowling, so it was a great hit out before India."

India's full tour of Australia kickstarts with the first T20I at Gabba on November 21.
