Even if they play to 70 % of their potential, the Virat Kohli led no.1 ranked Indian side, in absence of Steve Smith and David Warner, has its best chance to clinch a maiden Test series victory down under, feels veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh.

In March 2018, Cricket Australia banned Steve Smith, David Warner for one year and Cameron Bancroft for a period of 9 months, after the trio were found out guilty of the offence where they were deliberately trying to alter the condition of the ball during the Cape Town Test against South Africa using a piece of sandpaper.

A weakened Australian batting line up struggled to get going against Mohammad Abbas & co. versus Pakistan in UAE recently and this is inspiring a genuine sense of optimism in everyone around the system.

Assessing India's squad and the possibility of a historic win, the "Turbanator" told India Today, "I would say the way we have been playing and the way Australia are going about their cricket, I believe we can beat them. This is one of their weakest teams and one of our strongest to tour there. I am really looking forward to this series,"

Bhajji also has immense faith in the ability of Indian batsmen and believes that they will come out with their best for the challenge.

"The kind of records India's batsmen have - it's easy to see why they are favourites. Australia will struggle against such quality batsmen.. This is the best chance India have but they have still have to play good cricket there. Even if they play to 70 per cent of their potential, India will win," he said.

Reflecting on the opponent's case, where Australia will be bereft of their key matchwinners in Steve Smith and David Warner, Harbhajan felt, "There is no fun playing versus Australia if they do not have a quality side."

"Smith and Warner.... if they come back for the series, it will be an even bigger a series than it is now," he signed off.
