AUS v IND 2020-21: Zaheer Khan lists positives for Team India despite horrible Adelaide Test outing

Unlike many others, Zaheer Khan decided to look at the positives and not the negatives.

Team India didn't quite get what they looked for in the Adelaide Test on Day 3. The Indians looked very much in the game at the end of Day 2 with a lead of 62 runs in exchange for the wicket of Prithvi Shaw in the second innings.

However, what became the talking point of that Test is their lowest ever Test total of 36 that ended in a defeat in the second session of the day.

Former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan, who has been on tours to England and Australia with Indian teams that were not the best overseas, picked numerous positives that the team can take from Adelaide moving forward. He pointed out India's positives from even before the Test match started.

Zaheer told Sony Sports Network, "The first positive for India was that the playing XI was announced a day before. I feel it was a big positive because you showed confidence in the playing XI. The second positive was opting to bat after winning the toss. You showed that however good an attack Australia may have, we will play according to the conditions."

The former left-arm pacer also stated that the first day was very good for the Indians with Cheteshwar Pujara and captain Virat Kohli setting up the platform, although they fell 40-50 runs short of what they would've aimed in the first innings.

He also appreciated the efforts of the Indian bowlers to restrict the home side to just 191.

"The first day was very good. Pujara and Virat Kohli had set a platform although we may have fallen short by 40-50 runs of the number of runs that should have been scored. Bowling made a very good comeback. There were problems about length at the start, even the Australian bowlers had that issue in the first innings. India learnt from that," Zaheer said.
