The BCCI Men’s Selection Committee on Tuesday (September 1) announced a 15-member Indian squad for the upcoming three-T20I series against Afghanistan.
The matches are scheduled to take place between September 13 and September 17, with all games being hosted by Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Notably, four players—Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Harshit Rana—have been named in the squad subject to fitness clearance. They are nursing injuries and currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Shreyas Iyer will continue to lead the team, with Tilak Varma playing the role of a deputy. Sanju Samson was a notable inclusion in the side after being sidelined from the Zimbabwe T20I series.
The squad also features teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, alongside Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Apart from Reddy and Sundar Shivam Dube and Axar Patel are the seam-bowling and spin-bowling all-rounders in the lineup.
Ravi Bishnoi is the premier spinner in the squad, with Arshdeep Singh being the genuine fast bowler other than Bumrah and Rana.
