Former India captain Virat Kohli is on a break from cricket after the T20 World Cup 2022 and didn’t tour New Zealand where India has fielded a slightly new-look team for the three T20I series.

Though the first T20I in Wellington got rained out, the second match at Mount Maunganui was played despite a short rain break in the first innings, which was completely owned by Suryakumar Yadav, who hit his second T20I century this year.

Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to bowl first in overcast conditions. India opened with Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan and Pant got out soon for 6 runs. Kishan made 36 runs, while Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya made 13 each.

But the innings belonged to Suryakumar Yadav, who made 111* runs in 51 balls with 7 sixes and 11 fours to his name. In his last 18 balls, Suryakumar smoked 64 runs as India finished on 191/6 in 20 overs, which could have been more had Yadav gotten strike.

Suryakumar now has 1151 runs in 30 matches in T20Is in 2022 with 2 centuries and 9 fifties at a strike rate of 188.37 and an average of 47.95. He has hit 105 fours and 67 sixes thus far in T20Is in 2022.

Virat Kohli took to Twitter to laud Suryakumar Yadav’s stupendous knock calling it a ‘videogame innings’.

Numero Uno showing why he's the best in the world. Didn't watch it live but I'm sure this was another video game innings by him,” Kohli posted on Twitter.
