Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka posted 147/7 on the board. Oshada Fernando was the lone warrior with the bat for the visitors, scoring 78 not out off 48 balls including 8 fours and 3 sixes.

In reply, Pakistan got off to a terrible, losing lost Fakhar Zaman (0) on the very first delivery. Although Babar Azam and Haris Sohail steadied the ship by adding 76 runs for the second wicket, Wanindu Hasaranga (3/21) and Lahiru Kumara (2/24) ran through the middle order to reduce the hosts to 111/6.

While Hasaranga dismissed Haris Sohail (52), Sarfaraz Ahmed (17) and Asif Ali (1), Kumara got rid of Babar Azam (27) and Imad Wasim (3).
