D'Arcy Short (76) and David Warner (59) gave a good start to Australia chase of 244 to ensure they remain unbeaten in the tri-series in the lead up to the finals. Australia thus won the match by 5 wickets as New Zealand's road to the tri-series finals now rests on the last game at Hamilton on 18th February. 

Earlier, a record-breaking century from Martin Guptill helped New Zealand finish strongly at 243. His 105 was decorated by six fours and nine sixes. 

At the halfway mark everyone expected a Kiwi win knowing that it that the chase was tough for Australia. However, Warner and Short had other ideas. They started on an attacking note and stitched up a 121 run partnership inside  10 overs. This meant that the stage was set for to launch an attack in the final overs. Finch and Maxwell's quickfire 30's then ensured that  Australia completed a comfortable victory. 

This was a high scoring encounter which was evenly contested with the bat. Bowlers from both sides took a beating as Eden Park in Auckland was witness to some brilliant strokeplay from both teams.

Australia thus won their fourth match on the trot in the tri-series as D'Arcy Short bagged the Man of the Match award. 

The final match of the league stage before the final would decide who among New Zealand and England would play against Australia in the finals.
