D'Arcy Short recently got an emotional taste of the game of cricket, one which is called the "Gentlemen's game".  Two days of mixed emotions gave Short a true picture of the game and exemplified the fact that participation in this game can actually be greater than the results it yields. 

On Saturday, Short lived his dream of making his debut for Australia in the T20 which gave a kickstart to his international career. While Australia won the game on that day, the very next day Hobart Hurricanes lost the BBL finals to Adelaide Strikers. Although he was the top scorer for his side yet he couldn't help them to win the title. This came as a big disappointment to him as he lived two different days in his limited cricketing career.

"I was very excited to get my cap from Ricky Ponting (on Saturday) but then I was angry and upset on Sunday night (after the BBL final loss)," Short told reporters in Hobart on Tuesday (February 6). "It was good to make the final but I thought we could have won it." Short in Australia's chase of 95 could score just 4. 

Short admitted playing on the international stage was a learning experience. "I didn't know what to expect but I went in with an open mind," he said. "The energy and consistency of how well they bowled at the start was definitely a step up."

In the BBL  final though, his 68 was not enough to help Hobart win the BBL title as the Hurricanes fell short by 25 runs chasing 203 for victory.  

He can take this experience as a learning curve in his career which has been a short one so far and promises a long way to go. 

 "I will try to pick his brain to see how we went about it, especially how he goes from the short form to the long form," Short concluded speaking about his opening partner for the T20I  series David Warner.
